1962 lightweight 2.7Kg Gibson Les Paul Junior SG Cherry Red Small Guard Stoptail
"Is this a Les Paul?"
It sure is my friends! This is an all original Gibson Les Paul Junior from early 1962. That is, it's an SG as we all can see. But at that time Gibson still called these the "Les Paul" models and you can still see it on the headstock. Lester had already told Gibson he didn't like the new models but the contract wasn't over yet so it was only by 1963 that Gibson finally changed the name to SG.
The SG Junior is an epic instrument that has been embraced by musicians for over 60 years now. The rich cherry lacquer finish, early 60's neck joint and sharp vintage body scarfing are typical hallmarks of this model. It’s equipped with a powerful single dogear P90 pickup with handwired controls. The Kluson strip tuners with white buttons, wraparound bridge and single P90 pickup with only volume and tone knobs contribute to the simplicity, function and rock-solid tone of these little devils!
This particular axe is a super cool 2.7Kg light weight killer piece of machinery with a nice, comfortable and chunky feeling neck, super low action, powerful P90, original stoptail! and an amazing lively and resonant body. The original P90 pickup really screams and together with the nickel hardware, Kluson strip tuners, stop tail piece, heavily warped small pickguard, knobs, pots (dating to week 02 1962), disc capacitor, untouched solder wiring etc it is all original. No cracks, no breaks, not even the infamous heel crack... The guitar has a lot of honest playwear around the edges of the body, the headstock and alongside the fretboard and it really adds to the mojo of the guitar. You can just tell this thing rocks like your pants are on fire...
Comes in the original Gibson soft shell SG case.
