1971 Gibson SG Standard Cherry "Batwing"
Angus Young used a 1971 SG Standard on "Highway to Hell“ and "Back in Black“ making this guitar a true rock icon! No wonder these are so popular among fans and musicians all over the world.
This 3.3Kg rock axe is all original with no breaks, cracks or repairs which for an SG model is very rare indeed. It has a lovely original cherry red finish faded to brown / walnut and shows honest playwear all over the body, neck and headstock.
It has 2 original patent number sticker T-Top humbuckers, the pots date 1377114 (week 14, 1971), electronics and wiring is original and the ABR wire bridge, tremolo, "Batwing" pickguard, etc are also all original. It has a lovely neck with a 40mm nut that plays very smooth all over the board. The tuners are replaced for original late 50's Patent pending nickel Grovers (cool and expensive upgrade!) and the witch hat knobs have been replaced for reissue reflector knobs to give it a more late 60's vibe. Both are easy to restore if preferred. Comes with the original Gibson SG case with purple plush lining.
This guitar exhibits impressive sustain, precise and clear top end sparkle and a proper full on rock sound. It’s spot on, woody and compressed. Playing this guitar is almost effortless. The action is low and the frets have lots of life left.
Just perfect For Those About to Rock!!!
